These requirements apply to students entering UMass Amherst in Fall 2026 or later.
Please note: There is no "double dipping" within the major, meaning that a single course cannot fulfill more than one requirement.

Students will take one course from each category.
4 Social Work & Social Welfare Electives
Students will take ONE (1) of the following two courses:
- SOCIOL 328: Intro to Social Work, OR
- SOCIOL 341: Social Welfare
Students will take THREE (3) additional Social Work and Social Welfare electives.
