Professor Laurel Smith-Doerr has been awarded the Outstanding Research Award for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
This award recognizes Professor Smith-Doerr's vision and impact as the Director for the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) from 2012-2019 and her work as co-PI for the NSF ADVANCE Grant.
She was recognized not only for her high quality research but also for her consistent dedication to improving racial and gender equality.
Professor Smith-Doerr's nomination cites the recent honor of receiving the Devah Pager Outstanding Article Award for her research on gender pay gaps in U.S. federal agencies in the American Journal of Sociology.
