Edwin D. Driver, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, was honored at a ceremony naming a social and study space on the 10th floor of Thompson Hall in his honor. Dr. Driver was one of the first Black faculty members at UMass Amherst, and the only faculty member of non-European descent on campus when he started at UMass in 1948. Faculty, staff, and students from several departments and disciplines attended the space dedication, honoring Dr. Driver's legacy at UMass Amherst. The event was covered by several media outlets, including the Daily Hampshire Gazette, UMass University News, and the UMass College of Behavioral and Social Sciences News.
