Working with survey data, this collaborative project places Bourdieu’s concept of cultural capital into conversation with the legal consciousness literature, in order to understand how class affects people’s understanding of their constitutional rights.

About me:
Greetings! My name is Emma Aulenback, a sophomore from Shrewsbury, MA. I came into college with no direction at all, but I am extremely inquisitive. On a whim, I took an introductory sociology course and FELL IN LOVE!  It fascinates me that society created, and continues to create, the world in which we all live. Complex, diverse and forever changing- we can never stop asking questions about who and what we are! What can’t be questioned, however, is my love for Jeopardy, gardening, and handwritten mail. My goals are to be kind and happy. Life is just too unpredictable to plan beyond that!

What are your plans after graduation?
My dream would be to perform my own research one day. After taking the coarse, Sociology of Policing and Surveillance, I have become passionate about social issues such as racial profiling and constitutional law enforcement. I hope to have a career in public service and eventually attend graduate school.
