STPEC welcomes inquiries from students already enrolled at the University of Massachusetts as well as from incoming first year students and transfer students from other universities.
Matriculated UMass Amherst students: Students who are already enrolled at UMass Amherst and wish to join the major should first complete an intake form and schedule an appointment for an initial meeting with a STPEC advisor. Appointments are made in Navigate.
To make an appointment in Navigate:
Click on the blue button on the right hand side of your screen that says “Make an appointment”. In the drop down menu- select- Advising- then- Declare or change your major -then- Social Thought and Political Economy. This will take you to the STPEC advisor's calendar.
UMass Amherst applicants (first-year students and transfers): Students may indicate on their university applications that they wish to be accepted as a STPEC major. Students may also change into the STPEC Program during their initial summer advising sessions.
- First-year students are strongly encouraged to meet with a STPEC Program advisor no later than the end of October during their first semester at UMass Amherst.
- Transfer students are strongly encouraged to meet with a STPEC Program advisor during the summer transfer advising sessions.
