Who is SSHEN?

The Social Sciences, Humanities & Environment Network (SSHEN) is an interdisciplinary community of faculty and students from across the Five Colleges who conduct research, teach or have a general interest in social sciences, humanities, and the environment.  SSHEN provides a forum for interactive discussion, for networking, for collaboration and knowledge sharing across members. SSHEN also aims to build awareness of the role of social sciences and the humanities in understanding environmental conditions, relationships between people and the environment, and resolving environmental challenges.

SSHEN activities have included community social events, panel discussions, lectures, workshops on funding research, teaching and outreach, and seed grant funding, among others.  Anyone can join the network and we welcome your input and suggestions. Contact Eve Vogel (Geography) for information.

SSEN Seed Grant Program

Designed to stimulate new scholarly collaborations for innovative research centered on sustainability themes in the social sciences. These seed grants are intended to support proposals that are not likely to be funded by traditional granting organizations because they are early in development and interdisciplinary in nature.
