Qualtrics is one of the most frequently used platforms for designing, hosting, and distributing questionnaires digitally in social science research. However, because of its flexibility and its number of features, using Qualtrics to design questionnaires for your research can be a daunting task for beginners.

This 4-day (12-hour) workshop is designed both to introduce novice Qualtrics users to the platform's functionality for designing surveys and to provide tips and tricks that will be useful for both new and  experienced Qualtrics users. Participants will gain knowledge of how to create questionnaires,  randomize experimental conditions or question orders, use survey flow to selectively display information to different participants, link-Qualtrics responses to MTurk responses/online recruitment responses, link different surveys, and export and clean Qualtrics data for use once collected. We will focus on exporting Qualtrics to Excel and SPSS in particular.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Create and organize the flow of Questionnaires on Qualtrics
  2. Link different surveys on Qualtrics
  3. Connect Qualtrics responses to MTurk or other online recruitment responses .
  4. Download and clean raw Qualtrics data
  5. Manage questionnaire flow and randomization within Qualtrics
