The ISSR NVivo workshop series covers the main aspects of using NVivo 14* for qualitative data organization, management and analysis. In this last workshop of ISSR’s NVivo series, you will explore your data and understand what is happening as you progress with your project. We will explore the most relevant queries to generate different kinds of analysis from qualitative data. Running through examples of different query searches in the software, this workshop demonstrates various analytic possibilities in NVivo and how to organize your searches and results to develop techniques and thought processes (you can use them on your materials). This workshop is designed for users who want to get some structured practice with queries, and basic familiarity with NVivo at the level of the ‘Introduction to NVivo: The Basics’ workshop** is necessary.

*This workshop solemnly focuses on NVivo 14. See the instructions below for downloading, installing, and acquiring an NVivo 14 license.

**If you’re new to NVivo, an in-person Introduction to NVivo 14 workshop is offered on Wednesday, October 2, from 12-2 pm EST; you can enroll in both the introductory and this workshop. It is not suggested that you take the Coding and Queries workshops before the introductory workshop if you are a new user.

Accessing NVivo 14 software for your personal computer:

All attendees must have NVivo 14 installed on their Mac or PC home computer before the workshop date. For all UMass Amherst graduate students and faculty, a free copy of NVivo is just a click away. You can request a free copy by UMass IT.

NVivo offers a free 14-day trial for both Windows and Mac users. We recommend downloading your trial no earlier than 14 days before the workshop date to ensure you have ample time to familiarize yourself with the software. Free trials can be accessed through NVivo’s website.
