Bayesian statistics diagram.

Instructor: Andrea Cataldo

Description: This workshop aims to introduce participants to the basic principles of Bayesian statistics, an alternative to null hypothesis significance testing that has been increasing in popularity in recent years. Participants will receive hands-on experience computing Bayesian t-tests in R using the “BEST” package. We will conclude by reviewing how Bayesian statistics may be reported in a journal article. Participants should have some prior experience with R.

Learning Objectives |  By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Better understand the basic principles of Bayesian statistics
  • Compute a Bayesian t-test in R using functions from the “BEST” package
  • Report a Bayes Factor in a journal article
