2020-2021 ISSR Project Title: Aging Stereotypes: Effects on Mental Health, Preference and Health Behavior
Stereotype threat and subsequent effects on behavior are well documented in a variety of domains for older adults, including memory, cognition, healthcare, driving, and motor behavior, but have not been studied with regard to mental health and decision making process. Our project will address this knowledge gap and determine how negative stereotypes about older adult mental health effect emotional well-being and consequential decision-making.
