Catie Kitrinos
Consultant
Catie Kitrinos is a doctoral candidate in the UMass Comparative Primatology Lab. For her dissertation, she is studying the transmission of immune-relevant bacteria between wild bats, Kinda baboons, and their shared fruit food sources at Kasanka National Park in Zambia. Using a mix of wet lab procedures, bioinformatic pipelines, and statistical and visualization tools in R, Catie is assessing the microbiomes of different host species converge and diverge and what changes might hold key implications for host health and evolution. She is excited to be working with ISSR and to be teaching workshops in R, R Markdown, and public health databases. In her free time, Catie enjoys running, hiking, and painting, as well as occasionally delving into the magic and mystery of mammalian bile strategies!
