Amherst Town Council Candidates to Participate in Forum at UMass Amherst

The Q&A panel will take place on Oct. 24, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. in Thompson 106.

AMHERST, Mass. — Following the commencement of early voting on campus, 10 town council candidates will engage in a Q&A panel at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The panel — which is sponsored by UMass’ Pi Sigma Alpha, a political science honors society, and the Student Government Association — will take place in Thompson 106 from 7-9 p.m on Oct. 24, 2018.

The at-large candidates for town council are: Mandy Jo Hanneke, Alisa V. Brewer, Andrew Steinberg, Robert Greeney, Robert B. Kusner and James Pistrang.

The District 3 candidates are: Dorothy Pam, George Ryan, Stephen Braun and John Page.

According to the press release, “this is the first ever town council election and it is replacing the previous town meeting format of Amherst town government.”

Early voting will take place from Oct. 24-26 in the Student Union Building, room 420 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Regular voting will take place on election day, Nov. 6, 2018.
