AMHERST, Mass. – UMass Amherst students, faculty and staff will be able to rent a free bike for one year starting tomorrow, Oct. 30, between 12-4 p.m.

The bike-share program, which is headed by the Student Government Association’s Secretary of Sustainability, has been revamped to a long-term model from a previous short-term model that only allowed for a rental of a few days.

The program will also offer renters a free bike-tune up that they can redeem at the UMass Bike Co-op. Community members can visit Maple Hall’s storage unit to check out a bike. The bikes must be returned in working condition on April 26, 2019 between 12-4 p.m.

ValleyBikes, a paid bike-sharing service, will replace short-term rentals.

To rent a free bike, community members must fill out a contact that can be viewed here.
