Agencies

All About Agencies

The Student Government Association funds twelve (12) student-led Agencies, each of which provides a specific service to the student body.

The services these Agencies provide, which include advocacy, wellness, community engagement, media arts, legal consultation, and professional development, are integral to enhancing the student experience at UMass Amherst.

Check out this video to learn more about Agencies, and how you can participate in, and benefit from, these incredible student-led organizations!

Student Organizational Resource Center (SORC)

The SORC is an agency that provides services for over 300 established student organizations (ESOs).

ESOs can come to the SORC to book appointments with their SAI advisor, and account specialist; request services for event ticketing, as well as Agreement for Services (AFS) such as hotel rooms, UMPD, crowd control, EMTs, security, and catering.

ESOs can also book our conference room for meetings! In the SORC you can also find supplies for your ESO to make posters and bulletin boards! Even with the virtual semester, the SORC has made it our priority to offer our services, we are currently assisting students through email and over zoom!

If you are interested in contacting the SORC, please email us or use the links to our office hours posted on Campus Pulse every week.

University Programming Council

University Programming Council (UPC) is a student-run agency made up of a diverse group of undergraduate students working to better campus life at UMass Amherst through the planning and execution of some of the biggest events on campus.

We organize events in many different categories such as speaker events, concerts, late-night programming and more; we also plan Spring Concert, Big Chill, UMass Got Talent, and other really great events. We’re always looking for new members so feel free to join our email list or stop by one of our meetings any time!

Currently UPC is working with Student Engagement to provide virtual programming for students who are off campus in order to give them something to connect themselves to UMass and to their peers. We’re planning events like ESports tournaments, trivia nights, speakers series and more! A full calendar of all of the semester’s virtual events can be found on the Virtual Student Life website, and more information about our events can always be found on our social media!

Our mission is to serve as a training facility for all facets of video production, while providing undergraduate students with a welcoming environment in which to learn.  We provide training and access to facilities for both remote and studio production, and welcome opportunities to work with other student groups and campus partners on collaborative projects.
