Can We Talk?
This phrase signals the start of a difficult conversation – It is also the name of a powerful documentary series by Dr. Kendall Moore (U. of Rhode Island). This series centers the experiences of underepresented people of color in STEM. With support from a Workplace Climate grant from the UMass Office for Equity and Inclusion, the College of Natural Sciences, the School of Earth and Sustainability and the Eco and Geosciences Departments, we are excited to bring Dr. Kendall Moore to UMass to facilitate workshops on April 14th (one of the community wellness Wednesdays).
Workshop for faculty across SES - 10 am - 12 pm. In this workshop, Dr. Moore will use her films (or clips from her films) to spark facilitated dialog and discussion.
Workshop for graduate students, postdocs and faculty of color in CNS - 2 - 4 pm. This workshop will address isolation and visibility and will encourage the formation of cohorts and mentoring relationships across programs and ranks.
