Program Proposal Information

Proposals to create new academic programs or revise existing programs are submitted through the UMass Course and Curriculum Management System (CCMS). 

Program proposals include creating or revising an academic degree program (major), minor, concentration, certificate, accelerated masters option, dual masters program, or joint degree. For definitions of the various types of programs on campus, visit the definitions page. For various guidelines and information relating to program proposals visit the Guidelines for Programs page. Please note that new Letters of Specialization are not proposed or approved through the CCMS.

Faculty or administrators interested in proposing a new undergraduate academic degree program (major) should contact Carol Barr, Senior Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education (cbarr@provost.umass.edu), for preliminary information before submitting any materials to the online system. Faculty and administrators interested in proposing a new graduate degree program should contact Barbara Krauthamer, Dean of the Graduate School (barbara@grad.umass.edu) for preliminary information before submitting materials to the online system.
