Faculty Senate Meeting September 12, 2024

Senator Anurag Sharma (Management) was elected as an At-Large Member of the Rules Committee.

Senator and Rules Committee Member Michelle Trim (Computer Science) was elected as Chair of the Rules Committee.

Chancellor Javier Reyes delivered his annual State of the Campus Address.

The Senate voted to affirm items 1-8 of Item E on the Agenda, Actions taken by the Rules Committee using its Summer Approval Authority. Item 9 was not affirmed.

MJ Peterson, Professor of Political Science and Co-chair of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, delivered a presentation on the Process Update for Campus Strategic Planning.

Shelly Perdomo-Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Campus Life, and Anthony Paik, Professor of Sociology and Secretary of the Faculty Senate, delivered a presentation on the Campus Demonstration Policy Task Force Report.

ART676 and EDUC 689E were approved by the Faculty Senate.

The Special Report of the Rules Committee Regarding the Revisions to the Policy on Search, Appointment, and Evaluation Procedures for Deans, Associate Deans, Academic Department Chairs and Heads, and Academic Program Directors, as presented in Sen. Doc. No. 24-032A, was accepted by the Senate.

The Special Report of the Nominating Committee concerning the Nominations to Faculty Senate Councils and Committees, as presented in Sen. Doc. No. 24-086A, was accepted by the Senate.
