Vice Chancellor of Administration & Finance Andrew Mangels and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Associate Chancellor for Space and Capital Planning Tilman Wolf delivered a presentation on deferred maintenance.

Associate Provost for Instructional Design and Technology Heather Sharpes-Smith delivered a presentation on the transition to Canvas.

Associate Provost for Faculty Development Angela de Oliveira and Director of Faculty Development Dr. Leyla Keough Hameed delivered a presentation on the 2024 COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey

  • Revision of the Japanese Major Program

  • Creation of a Language and Literature Concentration within the Japanese Major

  • Creation of an Accelerated Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Creation of a Writing, Rhetoric and Literacy Studies Concentration within the English Major

  • Revision of the Concentration in Chemical Engineering “Coursework-Based Master”

  • Stockbridge Major Consolidation

  • Creation of a Graduate Certificate in Public Health


The Interim Report of the Joint Task Force on Generative Artificial Intelligence was delivered by co-chairs Professor Michelle Trim and Senior Vice Provost Tilman Wolf.


The Senate approved the creation of an Ad Hoc Committee on Statements by Departments and Other University Units.


The following policies were approved:

  • Revisions to the Procedures for Dealing with Charges of Misconduct in Research and Scholarly Activities at The University of Massachusetts-Amherst
