SBS Senior Celebration Schedule

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences will conduct its Senior Celebration on Saturday, May 9th, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. Graduates and their guests should plan to arrive at the Mullins Center by 12:00pm.

Dean John A. Hird will officiate. The audience can expect to hear meaningful and memorable commentary from a student from each department and program. Each graduate's name will be announced by department, and photographs will be taken while the graduates receive their medals and shake hands with College leaders. For those who attend, we ask that you please be courteous to fellow students and their guests, and remain for the entire ceremony.

Take a sneak peek at what you might expect by viewing this short clip of a previous ceremony.

You'll be wearing the cap and gown for both the main Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 8th and again at the SBS Senior Celebration on Saturday, May 9th.

For the 2020 ceremonies, graduates should plan to pick up their regalia (caps, gowns, tassels) during the following times:

Monday, May 4, 2020 – Thursday, May 7, 2020
10:00am to 4:00pm
Campus Center, Room 165-69

Please remember to bring your student ID. If you are unable to pick up your regalia in person, please contact University Relations (413-577-1101) to discuss an alternative. It has been the case in the past that students may have a friend pick up their regalia so long as they know their 8-digit student ID and their height, although please check with University Relations to confirm.

Regalia may also be picked up after 3:00pm on Commencement Day (Friday, May 8th) in Lot 11 at McGuirk Alumni Stadium.

Please park in Lots 33, 22, and 21, opposite the Southwest Residential Area on University Drive. Shuttle busses will circulate between the parking lots and the Mullins Center starting at 11:00am – each lot will have their own shuttle stops. Shuttle busses will also be available after the Senior Celebration to transport you back to Lots 33, 22, and 21. We suggest that you leave your car for the duration of the day's activities and navigate via shuttle bus or on foot. Please allow plenty of time after parking (we recommend 40 minutes) to travel by bus or on foot to the Mullins Center.

Security Information

As you plan your trip to the Mullins Center, please be aware of the security measures in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. All guests will be required to walk through metal detectors when entering the venue. To expedite the process, we ask that guests remove cell phones from their pockets and encourage patrons to avoid bringing bags to the facility. Purses, diaper bags, and other small personal bags are allowed but will be inspected at all entrances. Outside food or beverages, weapons of any kind and tobacco products are not permitted inside the arena. For a full list of prohibited items please visit the Mullins Center website.
