The University of Massachusetts Amherst

SBS Staff Professional Development Grant

These grants are open to all full-time non-advising staff within SBS and are intended to provide professional development opportunities not otherwise available through existing units. Opportunities may include conference attendance, trainings, webinars, bringing in outside speakers or trainers, and other forms of professional development. We anticipate at least ten grants recipients per year, of up to $1,000 each from SBS, to be matched 1:1 by departments, for a total maximum grant of $2,000 per person or group. Departments that provide staff with professional development funds can redeploy those funds towards the departmental match.
Grant Timeline
Because conferences and other professional development opportunities occur at various times throughout the year, applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Application Criteria
Applications must include the applicant's Short CV and a Proposal Narrative and Budget. Effective proposal narratives and budgets should address the goal for the grant, with any appropriate details connected to the staff and/or group members’ professional development. Proposal narratives and budgets should include any bibliographic references, as necessary.
