Though there are many factors still uncertain about the fall 2020 semester, the UMass College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) is excited for our new slate of faculty.

“We're experiencing some severe societal challenges, but this university's commitment to faculty excellence is amply demonstrated by recruiting these outstanding new faculty,” said John A. Hird, Dean of SBS. “We're all excited to begin engaging with them.”

Most new faculty will join us this fall; two will start in January 2021 and another in September 2021. Our 18 new additions bring SBS’s tenure track faculty total to 171.

“Bringing 18 remarkable new faculty across all ranks to the college is such a highlight and underscores the quality of our departments in attracting such talent,” added Dean Hird. “We're excited by the new ideas, perspectives, and energy they'll bring to our students and the university, and the many contributions they'll make to improving multiple societies.”

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to our new faculty. We’re so excited to have them and look forward to the experience and expertise they’ll bring to the college.
