Christine (Chrissie) Wais recently joined the UMass College of Social & Behavioral Sciences as the Executive Director of Development.  Chrissie worked at Cornell from July 2008 to September 2017, starting as Program Officer at Cornell Law School and ending her tenure as Associate Director of Development in the Cornell ILR School – an applied social sciences school focused on international employment and labor policy.  With this history, Chrissie brings with her an understanding of applied social science issues in addition to her background in development.

During her time at ILR, Chrissie established and grew the college level annual fund, worked with the top ILR donors and prospects securing major gifts, and developed a team focused on leadership giving, pipeline development, annual unrestricted giving, and donor stewardship.  She also served on the dean’s strategic planning committee working primarily on a strategic map forward for development and outreach.

“We’re delighted to have recruited someone with a rich understanding of the social sciences and the skills and drive to advance our priorities,” says Dean John A. Hird.  “Chrissie’s extraordinarily talented and she’s already hit the ground running.”

Prior to her work at ILR, she was a recruiting analyst for Goldman Sachs, in NYC.  With both a BS and MBA from Cornell, Chrissie is an active alumna.  In her spare time, Chrissie enjoys mentoring recent alumni, assisting students with career development, and working with nonprofits on fundraising initiatives.  Chrissie is a “recreational” jogger and an avid hiker and spent this summer summiting the 46 high peaks of the Adirondacks.
