SBS Professional Development Awards for Full-Time Non-Tenure System Faculty

These awards are open to full-time faculty outside the tenure system and are intended to recognize past achievements in teaching, advising, leadership, and service and provide opportunities to further enhance success in these areas. We anticipate at least 8 awards per year, of up to $1,000 each from SBS, to be matched 1:1 by departments, for a total maximum award of $2,000 per person. The awards can be used for conference attendance, curricular development, research related to teaching/advising, and other responsibilities related to the faculty member’s position.
Process and Criteria:
There is one award cycle per year, with applications due November 1st. Award recipients will be announced by December 1st. Because of the departmental match, applications must include the endorsement of the department chair. Criteria will include evidence that the award would assist the applicant in teaching and advising or related activities, and a suitable budget.

Effective project narratives and budget proposals should address the goal for the award, with any appropriate details connected to professional development within teaching, advising, and/or related activities. Project narratives and budget proposals should include any bibliographic references, as necessary.
