Workshop on Social Science and the Environment

Friday, March 30, 2018 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
Design Building

The workshop aims to bring together faculty, staff, post-docs and graduate students in an interactive form to discuss the practice of social science and humanities research related to the environment as well as to build community between and among UMass and Five College researchers. There will be opportunities to meet new colleagues and connect with ones you've not seen in a while; to reflect upon and discuss common conundrums associated with the conduct of research on the environment; to share your insights and learn from others; and to direct potential future activities.

If you have not already, please take a moment to let us know if you are considering attending and what would make this event useful and a success for you by filling out our workshop survey below.

The Social Sciences & Environment Network is supported with funds from the Institute for Social Science Research and School for Earth and Sustainability.

Join the Social Sciences & Environment Network

The Social Science and Environment Network is a community of faculty and students from across the Five Colleges who conduct research, teach or have a general interest in social sciences, humanities, and the environment.  SSEN provides a forum for interactive discussion, for networking, for collaboration and knowledge sharing across members. SSEN also aims to build awareness of the role of social sciences and the humanities in understanding environmental conditions, relationships between people and the environment, and resolving environmental challenges. SSEN activities include community social events, panel discussions, lectures, workshops on funding research, teaching and outreach, and seed grant funding, among others.  Anyone can join the network and we welcome your input and suggestions.
