Scott Burke ’84

Scott Douglas Burke, a partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP, has been with the firm since 1990 and a partner since 1995. Burke primarily concentrates in the civil defense of non-medical professionals against claims of malpractice and improper employment practices. He chairs the non-medical professional liability group of the firm's Boston office. Along with his trial work, Burke serves on the Massachusetts Bar Association's Committee on Professional Ethics, the MBA's Education Committee and the Ethics Curriculum Committee of MCLE.

Prior to joining Morrison, Mahoney LLP, Burke was an assistant district attorney in Manhattan in the office of Robert M. Morgenthau. He a member of the Bar in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York, and has tried cases in additional states. 

Burke graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center where he was a member of and published in the American Criminal Law Review, and cum laude from UMass Amherst with a B.S. in psychology. As an undergraduate, he took advantage of a number of opportunities on and off campus including serving as a photographer and photography editor for The Daily Collegian, Resident Assistant, Student Head of Residence in Southwest, New Students Program summer counsellor and Student Firefighter/EMT with the Amherst Fire Department. Burke is a founding life member of the University of Massachusetts Club and serves on its board of governors.

Burke and his family reside in Swampscott, MA, his hometown, where he has provided volunteer service on the Zoning Bylaw Review Committee, Finance Committee and as an elected Town Meeting member.
