Michelle Cardinal ’89
Michelle Cardinal is CEO/President of the Portland, Oregon based Cmedia, a media-buying agency specializing in direct response marketing. Cardinal founded Cmedia in 1998 after a distinguished thirteen-year career in the direct marketing field. Under her guidance Cmedia has experienced tremendous growth since its launch in 1998. It was recently ranked the #1 advertising agency, #1 women-owned company and the 18th largest privately held company in Oregon by the 2003 Portland Business Journal’s Book of Lists, which ranks Oregon companies based on financial growth. Cardinal was also honored with the YEO’s (Young Entrepreneur’s Organization) award for highest revenues for 2003.
Cardinal has worked with a diverse client base that has included many of the leading direct marketing companies such as NordicTrack, Time Life, Tri-Star Products, Ronco Products, QVC Direct, HSN Direct and hundreds of others. With a keen knowledge of the DRTV business, she has spent much of her career working with entrepreneurs to launch new products as well as consult with major brand marketers on bridging the gap between direct sell and brand building retail campaigns. Some of her corporate clients include: Humana Healthcare, Mutual of Omaha, Proctor & Gamble,KitchenAid, Best Buy, Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Philips Magnavox, Hoover, Hamilton Beach, Braun and Norelco.
Cardinal has managed and bought approximately $1 billion in media during her career in advertising and has managed thousands of direct response media campaigns, many of which have been groundbreaking in their approach and style.
Cardinal, who majored in Communication, lives in Portland, OR, with her husband, Timothy O’Leary.
