Julia Sears ’99

Julia Sears is an executive technology leader responsible for client facing technology at TIAA-CREF, a Fourtune-100 not-for-profit company dedicated to the investments and goals of over 15,000 universities, medical and research facilities across the United States.

Previously at NASDAQ OMX for 15 years, Sears held a number of senior roles. She was head of the Risk Management business and Cloud Solutions; led the launch of the Global Index Platform across 45 countries; and, in 2006, was an early adopter of mobile and cloud technology. Sears and her team developed the award-winning Market Replay, patented the technology for board-book-digital-distribution, Directors Desk, and designed the top-rated financial QFolio application at the request of Apple for the first iPad launch.

Born in London and raised in New England, Sear graduated from UMass Amherst where she studied Communications, resided in India and then entered into her first role at The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. in 1999.

Sears lives with her husband and two daughters in Connecticut. In her free time, she enjoys competitive sailing, photography and travel.
