Exploratory Track Advising

What is Exploratory Track Advising?

Exploratory track advising gives support and advising for new students in SBS without a declared major. The program is designed to give you a strong sense of belonging within the university and college while still encouraging you to explore options across campus. Exploratory track advising through SBS helps you learn about your options and hone in on your interests to create a path that is dynamic and rewarding.

As an exploratory track student, you'll join a unique first-year seminar that will ease your transition into life as a college student. You’ll quickly develop close bonds with other students and professors, and you’ll engage in activities that will help you identify an academic major.

If your interests lie outside of SBS, your advisor can help you make the switch to another college at UMass.
