Dr. Arseniy Kumankov earned his PhD in philosophy from HSE University (Moscow) in 2014. Between 2013 and 2022, he taught at Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka) and HSE University, where he was a deputy dean for research at the Faculty of Humanities and as an associate professor. Dr. Kumankov actively contributed to the popularization of philosophy and was visible in the media. Since 2022, he has been a Research Scholar in Politics at Princeton University. Dr. Kumankov’s specializes in war studies, ethics of war and peace, political and social theory. He has authored dozens of papers in both Russian and English, along with three books in Russian: “War in the 21 Century” (HSE Publishing House. 2020), “War. In Thrall to Violence” (EUSP Press. 2019); “Modern Classics of Just War Theory” (Aleteia. 2019). Additionally, he continues to serve as the editor of the book series at the New Literary Observer publishing house (NLO). Dr. Kumankov is a member of EuroISME, Concerned Philosophers for Peace, and the Independent Institute of Philosophy.
