Traveling to UMass Amherst
The Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts is located in western Massachusetts, which is approximately two hours west of Boston. The closest airport to campus is Bradley International Airport (BDL) located in Windsor Locks, CT. The University is close to major highways, including Interstate routes 90 and 91. UMass Amherst has an extensive Visitors Gateway site that includes detailed information such as directions, parking locations, campus maps and area lodging. We have also created our own Travel Guide that will help you find your way to UMass—whether you will be traveling by plane, train, bus or car. Recommended parking areas for the Methodology Workshops can be found at this link as well.
For your convenience, we recommend that attendees stay in on-campus accommodations due to the close proximity to the workshop location. Attendees may choose between the Hotel UMass and the suite-style accommodations of the North Residence Halls. For those who wish to stay off campus, the town of Amherst offers a variety of hotels along with bed and breakfasts.
