Johnathan Czernik
Undergraduate Researcher, Human Robot Systems Lab
BIO
Johnny was an undergraduate student in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at University of Massachusetts Amherst and a member of the Human Robot Systems Laboratory (HRSL). For his honors thesis, he designed and evaluated a fluid delivery mechanism for robot to maintain circadian rhythms in tissue cultures as part of a collaboration with the Kearney Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. For his senior design project, he worked in a team to develop the UMass inHand gripper, which is a tool designed to be used with a single human hand to train the robot’s arm to perform grasping tasks with greater human-like movement.
He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2023.
