Departmental Employment
Environmental and Natural Resource Economics (ENRE) and Managerial Economics students seeking opportunities to work directly within the Department of Resource Economics should speak directly with faculty of interest (by email or office hours). Be prepared with a copy of your resume, relevant strengths, and availability. Faculty will follow-up as appropriate. Note, there is often more demand for work than opportunities available. We often look for students who are performing well in their coursework (regularly attending, engaging, etc.) and who make the effort to get to know their instructors (attending office hours, asking questions, completing optional work).
Campus Employment
Explore job opportunities throughout campus by visiting the UMass Student Jobs Board. Consider options that build skill in a specific area of interest and/or those that offer general administrative/office, organizational, or leadership experience! Any experience is good experience if you can articulate transferable skills and demonstrate dependability.
Internships
Many ENRE/Managerial Economics students choose to participate in internships during their undergraduate careers. Internships are a fantastic way to apply academic knowledge to the work setting while simultaneously building your resume, making professional connections, and exploring possible career interests. Internships may occur any time of year. Many students secure 10-20 hour internships during Fall or Spring semester while others opt to work up to 40 hours a week during winter break or the summer months, for example. Some find opportunities on-campus, some work remotely from their computers, and others travel to office sites. Find current postings on Handshake (also the spot to look for full time employment).
