The UMass Tax School for Practitioners is an IRS approved educational entity, and a member of the Land Grant University Tax Education Foundation, Inc. (LGUTEF) a non-profit corporation organized by representatives of land grant universities around the country. Our program utilizes the National Income Tax Workbook (written and annually updated by LGUTEF) used at similar tax schools in more than 30 states for over 30,000 tax professionals.

Two-day income tax seminars providing updates to the latest tax laws and regulations are held annually in the fall throughout Massachusetts, and are particularly helpful for Certified Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents, Annual Filing Season Program participants, Certified Financial Planners, and other tax preparers. Seminars are conducted by professional instructors who have extensive tax experience and are offered in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.

Tax School - About

The UMass Tax School for Practitioners is an IRS approved educational entity, and a member of the Land Grant University Tax Education Foundation, Inc. (LGUTEF) a non-profit corporation organized by representatives of land grant universities around the country. Our program utilizes the National Income Tax Workbook (written and annually updated by LGUTEF) used at similar tax schools in more than 30 states for over 30,000 tax professionals.

Two-day income tax workshops providing updates to the latest tax laws and regulations are held annually in November throughout Massachusetts, and are intended for Certified Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents, and Registered Tax Return Preparers. A typical participant will have had several years’ experience in completing individual, small business and partnership returns and will complete 200 or more returns in a year. Workshops are conducted by professional instructors who have extensive tax experience and are offered in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.  

Credits

Classes are for Continuing Education credits by the IRS. Participants can earn up to 16 CPE credits:

  • 12 CE Federal Tax Law
  • 3 CE Federal Tax Update
  • 1 CE Massachusetts update

There will be a complimentary 2 CE Ethics for those who registered for the online or in-person programs. Ethics is offered as a 2-hour online session and is for IRS requirements ONLY.

We are happy to invite you to a Summer Tax Online Seminar in partnership with Cornell University; The 2025 Agricultural Tax Issues!

This online 4 CE Agricultural Tax Issues Seminar is designed to support participants who work with agricultural producers. The session will cover selected topics from the Fall 2024 Agricultural Tax Issues materials such as:

  • Timely Tax Issues Impacting Farmers and Ranchers
  • Legislative and Regulatory Update
  • Climate-Smart and Conservation Tax Issues
  • Disaster Tax Issues for the Farm or Ranch
  • Section 179 and Other Cost Recovery Methods
  • Retirement and Social Security Planning for Farmers
  • Lease vs. Purchase of Farm Assets
  • Tax Planning for Low-Income Years
  • Sale and Exchange of Farm Property
  • Sample Farm Tax Return

This online seminar will take place on July 15, 2025 from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

While the focus is on federal topics, the presenters will relay practical information that is pertinent to New York State as the opportunities arise (about 1% of the content).

Registration Fees

The price of the program will be $175.00. All attendees will receive a digital copy of the Fall 2024 Agricultural Tax Issues Workbook.
