Five College India Solidarity Building

January 26, 2020 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
601 Herter Hall, UMass Amherst, MA, USA
Several cities in the US (Boston, New York, Houston, Washington DC, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, San Francisco) are planning some form of protest event for India's Republic Day, Sunday 26 January 2020. On this date in 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. Now, 70 years later, the Constitution is under attack, as are all people who oppose the Hindu nationalist agenda. The need for protest and solidarity gatherings at this time cannot be overstated. There is a lot of interest within the Five College community to build a local solidarity network. Some of you attended the anti-CAA protest in December, or the Kashmir solidarity vigil in October, others have already built solidarity networks and may want to merge them.

This event will have 6-8 planned slots of 10 minutes each, and the rest of the time to meet others, and have open discussion. It would be best to have an even mix of students and faculty (3-4 each), to participate in the planned slots. (Depending on how many people sign up, you may or may not get a slot this time.)
