Makerspace: A New Home for Innovation
Pictured above is a student-built LED matrix, which is similar to projects to be completed in the new makerspace on the UMass Amherst campus. The innovative space, 2,970 square feet on the first floor of the Lederle Graduate Research Center, will provide aspiring makers with the materials and machinery they need to create physical projects. The space is dedicated to Professor Emeritus Robin John Popplestone (1938-2004), College of Information and Computer Sciences, an early pioneer in robotics and computer programming languages.
