Join the Controller’s Office in discussion about Post-Award Financial Research Administration.  The Controller’s Office sets up new awards, processes award modifications, approves certain types of expenses, prepares and submits invoices and financial reports to our sponsors, and works to close out expired awards. We perform duties in order to safeguard awarded funds, to help us comply with terms and conditions of our awards, and to facilitate the progress of the awards we manage. We work with internal/external auditors to provide assurance that we have the proper internal controls in place to adhere to the various compliance requirements of our awards.  When necessary, we make corrective actions and update our policies and procedures to enhance our internal controls if any findings are noted. We will discuss award set up and modifications to awards, re-budgeting, financial reporting, subrecipient monitoring, invoicing, closeout, audit, and touch on various compliance issues which we face such as cost allowability, cost share, cost transfers, fly America, and e-verification.  We will also discuss requirements for approving expenses, signature delegation, etc.

Topics covered include:

• Award set up and modifications to awards

•  Re-budgeting, financial reporting, subrecipient monitoring, invoicing, closeout

•  Audit

•  Cost allowability, cost share, cost transfers, fly America, and e-verification.
