Collin Capano

Collin Capano is an HPC facilitator and affiliate physics faculty at UMass Dartmouth. He got into high performance computing through his research in gravitational-wave astronomy. Prior to coming to UMass in 2022, Collin was a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Hannover, Germany. He was a member of the team that made the first detection of a gravitational wave, for which the Nobel prize in physics was awarded in 2017. He received his Ph.D. and B.S. in Physics from Syracuse University. He spends his free time watching "Shaun the Sheep" with his toddler and fulfilling her requests to be picked "Up!" He often contemplates going for a run, but usually ends up taking a nap instead.
