About RCD

Research Computing & Data (RCD) supports computing and data intensive research and education. We strive to lower the barrier to entry for advanced computing technologies and empower researchers to focus on their domains’ critical scientific, creative, and interdisciplinary problems. RCD designs, deploys, and manages scalable, campus-wide research computing solutions to meet UMass researchers’ high performance computing, data management and data sharing needs.

Mission

  • To enable and facilitate excellence in research and education at UMass Amherst, the UMass System, and in our broader New England region

Who We Are

Our interdisciplinary team is made up of PhD scientists, systems administrators, software engineers, research computing facilitators, data scientists, technical writers, and more. We are a research-forward team prepared to support and collaborate on computing and data intensive projects across a wide variety of domains.  We lead and contribute to research projects focused on developing and improving open-source research computing and data tools and technologies.
