About Our Committee
The UMass Repatriation Advisory and Oversight Committee is the oversight body for matters relating to all ancestral remains and related cultural items on the UMass Amherst campus, including compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The committee works to ensure the respectful, ethical care of ancestors and their belongings and their expeditious return to their descendants, communities, and homelands. The committee members represent UMass Amherst leadership, faculty, students, and staff.
