The Kinney Renaissance Center seeks a Social Media Design and Events Assistant for approximately 8 hours a week. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented with exceptional writing skills, a talent for design, and experience in optimizing content for social media. The position begins September 2026. We are located at 650 E. Pleasant Street, Amherst MA.

The social media design and events assistant will create content for the Kinney Center’s social media presence as well as help in the set-up and break-down of the Center’s artistic, scholarly, and public-facing events. Weekly goals include: developing and updating the Center’s social media channels (instagram) and websites (both University and Squarespace), setting up and attending scheduled events to capture images for promotional materials.

Responsibilities:
Generate, edit, publish, and share dynamic content that builds meaningful connections with diverse audiences. 
Manage the Center’s Instagram account & Mailchimp blasts
Assist in the development and implementation of social media strategy.
Assist the Center’s Director & Librarian with campus events.
Identify and collect compelling stories for social media posts.
Set up, attend, and report on Center events.
Other duties as necessary.

Requirements:
Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills. 
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Experience with social networking and knowledge of social analytics tools.
Fluency with Canva or Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
An interest in generating creative media while also attending to fine-grained detail.
Ability to multi-task.

The Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies seeks an undergraduate student to help maintain our Renaissance kitchen garden. Student gardener will work with the Renaissance of the Earth fellow to create and care for a historic Renaissance kitchen garden, including mulching, weeding, and irrigation as needed. 

Position requires interest and some experience in working outdoors on agricultural projects, flexibility, and ability to work on a team. You must also be available during the summer (flexible dates and times).

Requirements
Must be a current undergraduate student. Attention to detail, interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, dependable, punctual. Ideal candidates will have a range of interests such as Renaissance history and culture, agricultural and earth sciences, sustainable food and farming, book history, women’s history, landscape architecture, natural resource conservation, & plant, soil, and insect sciences.

The Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies is looking for a Research and Public Humanities Assistant. 

The Assistant will provide support to the Center’s staff in the day-to-day operations of an interdisciplinary humanities center. The Assistant’s responsibilities will include a variety of tasks, such as: promoting events on campus, preparing materials for classroom visits, organizing work spaces and library archives, as well as light errands and administrative tasks.

Requirements
Currently enrolled UMass student. Position requires impeccable attention to detail, the ability to juggle many tasks carefully, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Hours are flexible. Position begins in the fall semester and runs annually.
