R1/R2 General Education Requirements
Students who begin their college career taking advanced Mathematics and Statistics courses can demonstrate their mastery of basic mathematical skills by successfully completing certain courses, without having to take the Mathematics Exemption Test.
Students who complete a course from the following list may have it count for both their R1 and R2 requirements (courses which satisfy the R1/R2 requirements have the R2 designation associated with them in the course catalog):

Students who enter college without advanced Math skills should take the R1 course (or courses) indicated by the results on their Mathematics Placement Test before going on to take an R2 course.
