Once the add/drop period has ended, the course withdrawal period will begin. During the withdrawal period, all students will have until 11:59pm EST of the course withdrawal deadline (listed on the Academic Calendar as the last day to drop with “DR” for graduate students and last day to drop with “W” for all other students) to withdraw from a class on their own using SPIRE. Once the request has been submitted and processed in SPIRE, a grade of “W” for undergraduate students or "DR" for graduate students will be assigned to the class and will appear on the student’s transcript.
How to Drop a Course in SPIRE after Add/Drop
In your SPIRE Student Center, go to Manage Classes tile, expand the Add, Drop & Edit Classes section in the menu on the left-hand side, and select the W/DR Drop (after Add/Drop) option.
To initiate your request, please click on the ‘Drop’ button for the course you want to drop. Please be sure to read through all information and any prompts that appear on this page carefully.
Once your request has been submitted and processed, the page will be updated to show that you have been withdrawn from the class. Please be sure to view your unofficial transcript to confirm that you have been withdrawn from the class. If you do not see a grade of ‘W’ or ‘DR’ for the class on your unofficial transcript, you did not fully complete the withdrawal process and need to try again.
