UWiL Internship scholarships
We hope that you use what you learn in UWiL to secure an internship in public service where you can gain hands-on skills and expand your network. However, we also know that too many internships are unpaid and therefore out of reach to students who need to use their summers to earn money. To help make internships more accessible to more students, we offer scholarships to UWiL fellows who secure unpaid or low paying internships in public service. Current or former UWiL fellows who are still enrolled at UMass Amherst should should apply for these scholarships each spring by early April. The application is available in Academic Works.
Margaret Miley Internship Scholarship
For those UWiL fellows who obtain unpaid internships that are also tied to a transformative experience and for those who may have financial need, the Margaret Miley Internship Scholarship was established by a generous donor to honor UMass Alum Margaret Miley (more about Margaret here!). Current or former UWiL fellows who are still enrolled at UMass Amherst should should apply for these scholarships each spring by early April. The application is available in Academic Works.
Michelle Goncalves UWiL Scholarship
To honor the founder and former executive director (for 10 years!) UWiL hosts the Michelle Goncalves UWiL Scholarship. UWiL fellows who have secured a position working on a campaign during the summer and/or who seek assistance for postgraduate study related expenses (e.g. LSTA, GRE, GMAT fees, application fees for graduate school or law school) will be considered for this award. Current or former UWiL fellows who are still enrolled at UMass Amherst should apply for these scholarships each spring by early April. The application is available in Academic Works.
UWiL Conference scholarships
UWiL covers registration expenses for UWiL fellows to attend regional and local conferences on leadership. Past conferences paid for include Young Women Run, the National Conference for College Women Leaders, and the Women of Color Trailblazers Conference, among others. Janet Drukarsh Family Fund
Started by Naomi Seligman '95 in honor of her grandmother, the Janet Drukarsh Family Fund provides scholarships to students who find themselves faced with unexpected expenses. Scholarships are available every year to students who find themselves struggling to afford college, to pay for everyday expenses, or who are faced with unexpected emergencies. Scholarships are generally available for up to $1,000 per student per year. Students should email @email if they'd like to apply for this funding opportunity.
