By introducing these students to current leaders and providing opportunities for them to see first-hand the benefits of public service, UWiL provides models and pathways into leadership—all while helping to address the gender gap in politics and creating a pipeline from public education into public service.

Designed to provide hands-on training and practical preparation for a career in politics, government, and public leadership, UWiL is organized around four central components:

  • Leadership training through workshops and professional development activities
  • Shared community through assigned mentors and networking opportunities
  • Academic instruction through a one-credit, spring semester political science course
  • Applied experience through internships and job shadowing, including scholarship support for unpaid or low-paying positions

UWiL fellowship applications are accepted yearly August 15 through October 15. Please contact us for more information!
