Marta Vicarelli, assistant professor of economics and public policy, recently briefed the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on her recent research on nature-based solutions for disaster risk reduction. Vicarelli's analysis provides evidence of the economic viability of using nature-based solutions in place of or in conjunction with grey infrastructure solutions, and the importance of the research is heightened by increased global disaster risk brought on by climate change. Several School of Public Policy alumni are coauthors and recipients of acknowledgement on the project.
