In a new article for The Diplomat, Shanthie D'Souza argues that India must recalculate its foreign policy strategy due to its relegation to "second tier status" in the age of Trump. In the piece, titled "Indian Foreign Policy Needs a Rethink in the Age of Trump," D'Souza characterizes the current state of the India-U.S. strategic partnership as a "mirage," with treaty withdrawals, tariff threats, and defense-related delays all cited as tensions. D'Souza maintains that the relationship is still crucial to India's foreign policy goals, but asserts that it must "reframe its policy choices in order to maintain, if not strengthen" its relationship with the U.S.
