Rebecca Hamlin, director of legal studies, is quoted in a recent article in The Washington Post titled, "How Australia's migration policies echo Trump's - and vice versa." The article discusses the history of Australia's practice of third-country deportation and the ensuing mutual influence of such practices between the US and Australia since the start of the second Trump administration. When discussing the Australian policies, Hamlin says, "Australia is a leader in offshore processing, at convincing ... island nations to take people they don't want on their territory. They have been doing it for a long time."
