Joya Misra, distinguished professor of sociology and public policy, has coauthored a new column titled "COVID’s Lasting Impacts on Faculty Inclusion" in Inside Higher Ed. Misra, along with coauthors Laurel Smith-Doerr, Shuyin Liu, and Dessie Clark, discuss how faculty inclusion has dropped dramatically as a result of the pandemic. In this column, the researchers identify that while being a caregiver is not associated with feeling less included, having pandemic-related care responsibilities does make faculty feel less included. At the same time, faculty who face health issues or disability are also less likely to feel included among their peers.
