Michael Ash, professor of economics and public policy and co-director of the Political Economy Research Institute's (PERI) Corporate Toxics Information Project, was interviewed by Truthout about a recent study co-authored by Ash examining racial and ethnic disparities in hiring in the petrochemical workforce. The study, published in Ecological Economics and titled "Pervasive racial and ethnic disparities in the U.S. petrochemical workforce," describes how communities of color, which often bear the brunt of the negative environmental impacts of petrochemical pollution, do not often see the corresponding economic benefits.
