In a recent article titled "Meet the press: Gendered conversational norms in televised political discussion" and published in Journal of Politics, Kelsey Shoub and coauthors investigate when and whether televised discussions between political pundits reproduce or mitigate gender inequality. Drawing on American television news transcripts from 2000 through 2017, they show that show norms and formats relate to who is heard – and the relative rates of who is heard.
